Cloudflare makes your website faster and safer, and Hostbox lets you connect your domain to it in just one click. You do not need to touch any settings manually or understand how nameservers work. This guide walks you through the whole process.
What Cloudflare gives you
When your domain is connected to Cloudflare, your site automatically gets:
- A global CDN that serves your pages from locations close to your visitors, so they load faster.
- Free SSL/HTTPS, so your site shows the padlock and encrypts traffic.
- DDoS protection that helps keep your site online during attacks.
- Fast DNS, so your domain resolves quickly worldwide.
The connection uses your own Cloudflare account. You keep full ownership and control of your domain and its settings inside Cloudflare at all times. Hostbox simply sets it up for you.
How to connect your domain
In the Hostbox dashboard, go to Domains and click the domain you want to connect to open its detail page.
Find the Add to Cloudflare card and click it to begin. You will be sent to Cloudflare through a secure sign-in flow.
Sign in to Cloudflare, or create a free Cloudflare account if you do not have one yet, then approve the connection with Hostbox.
Hostbox automatically creates a zone for your domain in your Cloudflare account and switches your domain's nameservers to the ones Cloudflare assigns.
Cloudflare then verifies the nameserver change. The status moves from pending to active once everything checks out.
Nameserver changes need time to spread across the internet. This usually takes a few hours and can take up to 24 hours. Your site stays online during this time, so there is nothing to worry about.
Already using Cloudflare?
If a Cloudflare zone for your domain already exists, Hostbox adopts the existing one instead of creating a duplicate, so nothing breaks.
Changed your mind?
You can disconnect at any time from the same Add to Cloudflare card on your domain's detail page.
