WordPress powers a huge share of the web, and getting started on Hostbox takes only minutes. This guide gets you from zero to a working site with sensible first settings.
One-click WordPress install
The quickest way to install WordPress is the one-click installer in your Hostbox control panel.
In your control panel, find the WordPress or app installer.
Pick the domain (or subdomain) where WordPress should live.
Enter a username, a strong password, and your email, then install.
In a minute or two your site is live. The installer gives you a link to your admin area, usually yoursite.com/wp-admin.
Logging into wp-admin
Go to yoursite.com/wp-admin and sign in with the username and password you just created. This dashboard is where you control everything on your site.
Picking a theme
Your theme controls how your site looks. Go to Appearance > Themes to browse free options or upload one you bought. Pick something clean and fast, then customize the colors and logo to match your brand.
Essential first settings
- Site title and tagline: Set these under Settings > General so visitors and search engines know who you are.
- Permalinks: Go to Settings > Permalinks and choose Post name. This gives you clean, readable URLs that are better for SEO.
A couple of must-have plugins
- An SEO plugin to help search engines understand your content.
- A backup plugin so you always have a copy of your site.
Less is more with plugins. Install only what you need to keep your site fast and secure.
Keeping things updated
