Bringing your domain to Hostbox keeps your hosting and domain in one place, which makes managing everything simpler. A transfer is a guided process, and your remaining registration time carries over so you do not lose any days you have already paid for.
Check the requirements
Before you begin, confirm your domain is eligible:
- It is usually at least 60 days old.
- It has not been transferred to another registrar in the last 60 days.
If your domain is brand new or was just transferred, you may need to wait until the 60-day window passes before it can move again.
Prepare at your current registrar
Log in to your current registrar and remove the transfer lock on the domain.
Request the EPP or authorization (auth) code. You will enter this at Hostbox to prove ownership.
If privacy protection is on, temporarily disable it so the transfer emails can reach you.
Start the transfer at Hostbox
In your Hostbox dashboard, begin a domain transfer, enter your domain, and provide the auth code when prompted. Hostbox then requests the domain from your current registrar.
Approve and wait
You will receive a confirmation email about the transfer. Approve it to allow the move to continue.
Watch your inbox during a transfer. If the confirmation email is missed, the transfer can stall or be cancelled.
A transfer often takes a few days to complete. Once it finishes, your remaining registration time is preserved on your domain. If you have questions along the way, contact us at /support, and find more guides at /knowledgebase.
